KOLKATA: It will be a race against time for Mohammed Shami and Abhimanyu Easwaran to get fit and board the flight to South Africa. While Shami was named in the Test squad only, Easwaran found a place in the India ‘A’ squad which will be playing some tour matches when the national side too will be in South Africa.
There are question marks over the availability of these two Bengal players in the huge contingent named by the BCCI on Friday evening for the away tour that will see them play three T20Is, three ODIs and two Test matches. The India ‘A’ will also play two four-day matches against South Africa ‘A’ and one inter-squad three-day match.
