Mohamed Salah sends parting message to Sadio Mane after Bayern Munich transfer

Mohamed Salah has wished Sadio Mane the best of luck after the Liverpool star completed his transfer to Bayern Munich.

On Wednesday, Mane joined the German champions in a deal worth £35.1 million, leaving Anfield after six seasons - five of which were with Salah. The two stars, alongside fellow forward Roberto Firmino, helped form the Reds' famous front three which tore opposition defences apart and fired Liverpool to six trophies under manager Jurgen Klopp.

Following the 30-year-old's departure, Salah - whose own contract on Merseyside expires next summer like Mane's was due to - took to social media to thank the Senegal international for his contrition, writing: "It's been quite a ride! Thank you for all the good times and I wish you all the best in your new adventure! You will be missed by all of us."

Mane replied on Instagram by commenting: "Keep doing your things. Brother you are the best." The former Southampton star has signed a three-year contract with Bayern following weeks of intense speculation following the Reds' agonising defeat in the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris.

Klopp echoed Salah's sentiment in a message of his own. "It's a big moment. There is no point in anyone trying to pretend otherwise," the Liverpool boss admitted via his club's website, having made Mane his first major signing in 2016.

"One of Liverpool's greatest ever players is leaving and we must acknowledge how significant this is. He leaves with our gratitude and our love. He leaves with his status among the greats guaranteed. And, yes, he leaves in a moment where he is one of the best players in world football."

Klopp continued: "To be that good for such a sustained period and continuously improve season on season – no matter how high he set his own bar in the previous one – is an example to any player anywhere on the planet that professionalism and dedication leads to reward.

"I respect completely his decision and I'm sure our supporters do also. If you love LFC, you have to love Sadio – non-negotiable. It is possible to do this while accepting our loss is Bayern's gain. We wish him nothing but success in every match he plays in, unless, of course, it's against us. His star will continue to rise, I have no doubts."

Mane also expressed his gratitude for his former employers by adding in an emotional farewell interview : "After every one of my games in Munich I will come to the dressing room and I will watch Liverpool, for sure, because I am going to be Liverpool's No.1 fan forever.

The Red Bull Salzburg product went on to say: "I just want to say good luck to them and I have an eye on them. And for sure they will be even better because I know the boys: great players, great talent, great maturity and attitude, so of course, Liverpool will always stay even better, for sure."
