Liverpool were left frustrated on Saturday evening when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s men trailed after Son Heung-min handed his side the lead early into the second half but drew level through Luis Diaz with 15 minutes remaining.
There was an expectancy around Anfield that the hosts would go on to the grab a second and secure a crucial victory, but the visitors stood firm and are the first side to take points off of Liverpool at Anfield since Brighton back in October.
It’s a result that could prove hugely costly in this season’s title race and, in the days following, one of the Liverpool attackers who has come under scrutiny is Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is as popular as ever on the Kop and certainly not considered the sole blame for Saturday’s result. Yet there was a sense that in similar fixtures earlier in the season, he was consistently able to be Liverpool’s saviour.
