Mohamed Salah has become Liverpool's record scorer in the Premier League after finding the net twice during their 7-0 win against Manchester United on Sunday.
Salah has also become Liverpool's leading scorer against United in the Premier League era. "It’s very special, I can’t lie," he told Sky Sports when asked about the former record.
"This record was in my mind since I came here, I think after my first year I was always chasing that record, so to break it today, against United, with that result, was unbelievable. So I’m going home to celebrate with the family, have a camomile tea and sleep!"
The Reds humiliated their rivals at Anfield to put themselves firmly in the race for a top-four finish. Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez both scored braces to put Jurgen Klopp's side in a commanding position, while Salah's double was the cherry on top of the cake.
The Egyptian's first goal was superb. As a loose ball broke to him, Salah turned and smashed home a first-time finish off the underside of the crossbar. It was an emphatic strike that summed up a perfect day for Liverpool and increased his legend on Merseyside.
Salah's first goal was his ninth in the Premier League against United for Liverpool, which is the most a Reds player has scored against the Manchester club since the division was founded in 1992. The previous record holder was Steven Gerrard with eight goals.

Salah's 10th Premier League goal for Liverpool against United came shortly before the final whistle. Some poor defending saw the ball squirm to the superstar, who was more than happy to put the ball into the net. Roberto Firmino scored a seventh goal late on.
The former Chelsea star now has 130 goals for Liverpool in the Premier League - making him their leading scorer in the competition. He has scored more goals than Robbie Fowler (128), Steven Gerrard (120), Michael Owen (118) and Sadio Mane (90).
Liverpool's victory on Sunday is huge for various reasons. Firstly, it leaves Klopp's side fifth in the Premier League table - just three points behind Tottenham in fourth with a game in hand. They also now have a much better goal difference than Antonio Conte's side.
Liverpool's win will also mean a lot to their supporters. United are one of their biggest rivals - if not the biggest - and embarrassing them in such a manner will be well received. It is Liverpool's largest ever victory against United - in any competition.
Salah was asked about breaking the two records ahead of Sunday's game. As quoted by the Liverpool ECHO, he said, "I'm aware of the records, this one especially. For me it's really special. When I came, after my first season I had like 31 goals and I was like, 'I want to be the top scorer for Liverpool in the Premier League'. It's something I am really chasing.
"I have some good records at Liverpool. To be fair, as long as we achieve something with the team that's the most important thing for me.
"I'm so happy and proud to break records and win trophies in a team like Liverpool. I don't want to be in a smaller team and I'm the only one breaking records and that's it."
Salah added, "It would be nice to have the record in this big game especially against United. We know the relationship between United and Liverpool. Of course there is extra motivation, but whoever scores [against United] I'm happy with it."
