Mohamed Salah major new contract claim as Liverpool 'ask about' two alternatives

It's one down seven to go in Liverpool's mad April. The Reds momentarily leapfrogged Manchester City with a 2-0 home win against Watford on Saturday before Pep Guardiola's side regained top spot with a 2-0 win of their own at Burnley.

Attention will now turn to the Champions League before the two Premier League title-chasers lock horns at the Etihad a week today, in what is unquestionably the biggest match of the season to date.

If all of date excitement is too much to handle, let's step back and take a look at some of the biggest LFC transfers rumours across the world wide web today.

Who?

Mohamed Salah

Where?

The Mirror

Why?

According to an exclusive in the Mirror, the Egyptian King is very close to agreeing a new deal that will keep him at Anfield for the rest of his career. Salah is understood to have rejected an initial contract offer that would have put him on wages of £400,000 a week, with the club fearing that he would leave Merseyside on the summer. But the Premier League's top goal scorer appears to have had a change of heart and looks set to see out his playing days with the Reds.

The Mirror cites a possible extra 12 months on an initial three year contract that may have swung a positive decision from Salah, but there is no suggestion that the deal has already been signed.

Who?

Christopher Nkunku

Where?

ESPN

Why?

Liverpool are understood to be interested in signing Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig this summer. But the attacker is also believed to be a target for Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

The French international has scored 15 goals and served up nine assists in 25 Bundesliga appearances this season and as a result, has a price tag of around £50 million slapped on him.

The 24-year-old can play up front or in midfield and is considered to be one of the most highly-rated players in Germany at present.

Who?

Cody Gakpo

Where?

Voetbal International

Why?

Liverpool are understood to have already held talks with PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo about a possible move to Anfield.

That's according to journalist Marco Timmer, who says that the Reds face competition from a host of top clubs for this signature. Timmer said: “It is now a certainty that Cody Gakpo will leave PSV. The Eindhoven resident has already spoken to clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester City, while Bayern Munich are also interested.”

The 22-year-old winger has been in top form in Holland this season, delivering 16 goals and 15 assists in 37 appearances and is likely to cost potential suiters around £34 million. Gakpo can play multiple positions across the front line, something that is likely to suit Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
