Mohamed Salah handed driving ban after ex-Liverpool star’s Rolls-Royce clocked speeding

Former Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has received a six-month driving ban after his Rolls-Royce was caught travelling over the speed limit.

Court records show the athlete failed to inform police who was behind the wheel when a speed camera recorded the vehicle travelling at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Wilmslow, Cheshire, on 27 March.

The 34-year-old did not reply to a notice of prosecution issued by Cheshire Constabulary and failed to enter a plea to the charge.

A court official stated he was tried at Warrington Combined Court under the Single Justice Procedure, which sees magistrates sit in private hearings, and convicted of failing to provide driver identification details.

The Egypt national captain received the six-month driving ban alongside an order to pay £1,044, a court spokeswoman confirmed.

The speeding incident took place days after Salah confirmed he would be leaving Liverpool after nine years with the club.

Confirming his exit on 24 March, the club said he had "firmly established himself as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history".

Salah netted 257 goals in 442 appearances for Liverpool before transferring to Turkish team Trabzonspor following the 2025-26 season.

During his time at Anfield, Salah won the Premier League twice and the Champions League in 2019. Salah also won the League Cup on two occasions and the FA Cup, while also earning the Premier League Golden Boot four times.

Since moving to Turkey, Salah has made a fast start in his new team, scoring seven goals in six league games for Trabzonspor.

Playing a side that also contains former Liverpool team-mate Fabinho and Manchester United loanee Andre Onana, Salah has flourished, although Trabzonspor are still only seventh in Turkey’s top division after taking 10 points from six matches so far.

Salah is also playing under a new manager after Trabzonspor parted way with Fatih Tekke at the beginning of the month.

They have since brought in German manager Thomas Reis on a two-year contract. Reis has previous experience managing in Turkey having previously coached Samsunspor.

Trabzonspor are due to face Samsunspor in their first match after the international break on 10 October.
