Mohamed Salah gets what he wants as Real Madrid beat Man City to set up Champions League final v Liverpool

Liverpool will face Real Madrid in the Champions League final after the Spanish side completed one of the most remarkable comebacks in history against Manchester City to win 6-5 on aggregate and 3-1 on the night at the Bernabeu.

Rodrygo scored in the 90th and 91st minute to take the tie to extra-time after a second-half Riyad Mahrez strike had looked to have secured City’s progression to Paris.

A Karim Benzema penalty in extra-time won the game for the newly crowned La Liga champions as the Frenchman scored his 43rd goal of the season.

Madrid will play Liverpool in the final in Paris on Saturday, May 28 in a repeat of the 2018 Champions League showpiece.

It will be a chance at redemption for Liverpool who lost 3-1 four years ago in Kiev, with Mohamed Salah leaving the pitch in tears as he was forced off with an injury following a foul by Sergio Ramos.

After Liverpool's semi-final second-leg win against Villarreal on Tuesday, Salah had said he wanted to face Real Madrid.

The Reds star told BT Sport: "I want to play Madrid, I have to be honest. City is a really tough team, we played against them a few times this season.

"I think personally, I would prefer Madrid. We lost in the final to them so I want to play against them and hopefully win it."
