The seventh edition of the LitFest was jam-packed with sessions which are topical and relevant in contemporary times. One such session was that of RJ Sukriti where she discussed Amy Lea's the latest rom-com ‘Exes and Os’ published by Penguin.
In a Q&A round, Sukriti answered various questions about her take on modern dating, one-night stands, her idea of love etc. When she was asked for her views on one night stand, RJ Sukriti replied, "With the app-generation, everything is available on a click. But I'm very old school when it comes to dating. Like Trevor in ‘Exes and Os’ doesn't even remember the girl's name next morning, but I'm not like that. I mean great kudos to this generation that they and the society are accepting it. Personally, I'm not very fond of such things."
RJ Sukriti interacted with the audience and asked the meaning of few modern dating terms like situationship, benching, ghosting to the audience.
Then she went on and shared tips and points about modern dating. Some of RJ Sukriti's dating tips were:
1. Don't be too fussy and brush off people by appearances
2. Be sure and clear about what you want
3. Respect is very important. Don't judge people
4. Every dating experience is a learning experience
When someone from the audience asked her, "Is marriage becoming less and less important to youngsters? I see people in their 30s not bothered that they haven't found anyone, and I can't figure out if they've got it right?"
To this Sukriti replied, "I think people want to learn more about themselves before they get into marriage. People want to achieve certain things in life before they 'settle down'. So, they are taking their time and the best part is that our parent's generation is also opening to it that they say 'it's okay, take your time if you don't want to marry right now'."
The session ended with RJ Sukriti also reading a few excerpts from the book.
