Mobile shops to take ration to doorstep of tribal people

Mobile ration shops will be the ‘Vishukaineettam’ for tribal settlements in the State this year.

Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G.R. Anil will inaugurate a project for doorstep delivery of foodgrain through the mobile ration shops at the Puravimala settlement of Amboori grama panchayat in Kattakada taluk at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

The State government’s vision was that all sections of people should be able to enjoy the festival days without any deprivations. It was with this in mind that mobile ration shops were being launched, a statement from the Minister’s office said on Tuesday.

183 families

In Amboori panchayat, ration supplies will be distributed directly to 183 families in the tribal settlements of Puravimala, Thenmala, and Kannamammoodu.

In the coming days, the government would extend the mobile ration shops to localities where people from the backward sections lived, the statement said.
