Mo Salah's rival doubles down on criticism of Liverpool star: "I don't give a toss"

Vincent Aboubakar has claimed the only thing that separates himself and Mohamed Salah is that the Liverpool star has the opportunity to play for a "big club".

This isn't the first time that the Cameroonian has slammed Salah after the Egyptian scored twice for the Reds in their 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The 30-year-old was praised heavily for his performance as Liverpool recorded their first Premier League away win of the campaign at the sixth attempt.

However, Aboubakar, who plays in Saudi Arabia for Al Nassr, isn't having any of it and doesn't believe Salah deserves all the plaudits he's getting. Aboubakar says he "can do" what Salah does and added that he doesn't "give a toss" if people don't listen to his opinion on the ex-Roma man.

He told 90FootballFr, as relayed by the Daily Mail : "I'm not impressed by him. I can do what he does. I just don't have the opportunity to play in a big club. I understand people's attitudes, he's one of the best goalscorers in the Premier League. It makes sense that when you go on about a player like that, people will talk.

"But I did say that it was my opinion, my point of view. I don't give a toss if people don't like it."

Back in February, ahead of Cameroon's clash with Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations, Aboubakar took his first swipe at Salah and admitted that he doesn't think Salah is on the same wavelength as the likes of Paris Saint-Germain ace Kylian Mbappe. The ex-Porto forward also claimed that Salah doesn't do enough to create chances for his teammates, despite scoring 23 league goals last season.

However, there is no doubt Salah is still recognised as one of the best footballers on the planet, having scored 170 goals across the last five seasons for Liverpool. Although Salah hasn't had the most impressive start to the campaign, Jurgen Klopp continues to praise his marksman, who signed a new five-year contract in the summer.

After Salah scored twice against Tottenham, Klopp said: "Even in this slow start, Mo was involved in the most chances in Europe but we didn't take them or he didn't take them and it can happen for a striker, it is a completely normal phase. But everyone knows when you look back at his career, everybody will remember one of the best strikers you ever saw because the numbers will be absolutely insane.

"Tonight, what pleased me the most is he scored the two goals and then he played like a real, real team player.

"I am not surprised by that but it is just important because he got confronted with these questions as well about the slow start and then it is like (in his head) you have to score a hat-trick. But it was all about first defending and then you will get your chances again. Really pleased for him, top performances and sure outstanding attitude tonight."
