Mo Gilligan made a savage dig at the Prime Minister Boris Johnson as he hosted the BRIT Awards tonight.
The comedian is presenting the show this evening, with the biggest music stars packed into London's O2 Arena to celebrate the best songs of the past 12 months. Guests include Adele, Ed Sheeran and Dave, who are all performing this evening.
As host Mo took to the stage after Anne-Marie, KSI and Digital Farm Animals' group performance, he couldn't resist making a cheeky dig at the Prime Minister following the recent partygate scandal.
"We all love a party," he began, "The Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Speaking of parties, Boris, I know you're watching.
"I know you love a party. Come down my guy! I know you like a cheeseboard! Look at you with your Dairyleas."
His comments had a lot of the audience behind him laughing as he flashed a cheeky smile at the camera.
The Sue Gray report about the alleged parties at Downing Street was released recently, with the Prime Minister taking to the House of Commons after it was released to apologise.
"Firstly, I want to say sorry - and I'm sorry for the things we simply didn't get right and also sorry for the way this matter has been handled," he said to the House at the time, "It's no use saying this or that was within the rules and it's no use saying people were working hard. This pandemic was hard for everyone."
However, Leader of the Opposition Sir Keir Starmer went on to slam the Prime Minister over the parties, some of which are now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.
Mr Starmer said: "The Prime Minister himself is now subject to criminal investigation. It is already clear the report discloses the most damning conclusion possible. Over the last two years the British public have been asked to make the most heart-wrenching sacrifices.
"A collective trauma, endured by all, enjoyed by none. Funerals have been missed. Dying relatives unvisited. Every family has been marked by what we’ve seen through and revelations about the Prime Minister’s behaviour have forced us all to re-think and re-live those darkest moments."
