After 15 years of attempting to bring a MLS team to the city, St Louis City SC will finally join America's top-tier league next season as the expansion of the league continues.
St Louis will become the 30th team in the league after Austin FC joined in 2021 and Charlotte FC in 2022, who both have performed valiantly since joining. A recent expansion draft allowed St Louis to bolster their roster ahead of their inaugural season, which will kick off in March.
St Louis will play their games in newly-built CityPark stadium, which features a new technological system which fans are going to love.
The food and drinks sections around the stadium have been fitted with technology which picks up what you walk out of the store with and charges your card automatically - avoiding queues with fans seamlessly picking their items up and walking away.
All fans have to do is tap their card as they walk in and do the same once they walk out - with hot and cold food available as well as alcoholic and soft drinks - all can be taken and consumed at your seats to watch the game.
St Louis City SC will join the MLS for their inaugural season in a few months, played Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday for their first ever game - losing 3-0.
The roster now has 17 players after the expansion draft, including filling two of their designated player roles in signing former Hertha BSC midfielder Eduard Lowen and Hoffenheim striker Klauss.
The team also acquired USMNT striker Nicholas Gioacchini from Orlando City, who has made eight international appearances and scoring three goals.
Speaking after their draft, sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel said: "We want to build a team here. We want to build a club culture, so everybody on the field – the 11 on the field, the coaching staff, the substitute players and even all of the guys in the stands, they're just as important as everybody else. That's why that DP thinking, that PR player thinking, not just my cup of tea."
