MLB Punishes Aaron Boone After Second Ejection in Four Days

After a string of recent ejections, Yankees manager Aaron Boone will face an even stiffer punishment from Major League Baseball.

MLB announced Friday that Boone has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his latest outburst that resulted in an ejection from Thursday’s game against the Orioles. The ejection marked the Yankees manager’s second in the last four days and third in New York’s last 10 games.

Boone will reportedly serve his suspension Friday during the team’s opening tilt of a three-game series against the Padres.

The Yankees manager didn’t last long at Thursday’s game as he was tossed in the middle of the third inning for arguing balls and strikes with home plate umpire Edwin Moscoso. The ejection marked his fourth of the year, the most among all managers in MLB this season.

Boone, who has been ejected more than any other manager in baseball dating back to 2018, spoke to reporters prior to the announcement of his suspension on Friday and admitted that he thought he’d earned a reputation for his confrontations with umpires. However, he dismissed the idea that the same reputation was resulting in any sort of different treatment.

“I think I’ve earned that reputation,” Boone said. “Do I think it’s leading to a quick hook? Not necessarily. I think last night was quick, but that could be a one-off. Maybe I’m delusional and that I did more than I think.”
