SEATTLE - After a 1-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first game of the series, each of the last two games the Dodgers played against them has seen plenty of firepower and, in a 11-7 win that saw every starter finish with at least one hit, the LA team snapped a two-game losing streak to avoid the sweep away from home.
Freddie Freeman opened things up for the Dodgers with a three-run homer in the first inning and they never looked back after that. Dominican outfielder Teoscar Hernández contributed with a double, three total runs and a solo shot at the top of the fifth to take his tally to 13 homers in the season.
Hernández snapped a 10-game streak without a homer, his first since May 24. But, surprisingly enough, that wasn't his longest dry spell this season. Between May 12 and May 22, Hernández went 11 games without going deep and he has just two home runs in his last 23 games.
Despite not firing in all cylinders, Hernández contributed with another multi-hit game, his 16th this season. As a team, the Dodgers totaled 14 hits and every single starter went home with one.
"It was good offensively," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "I felt really good up and down the lineup. There was some situational stuff. Mookie came to life. Teo finally got some results, which was good for him."
After a hot start to the season, Hernández's production has halted a bit but he remains as one of the most productive bats in the Dodgers roster. His 13 long shots and 39 RBI both ranks second in the team, only behind Shohei Ohtani.
Up next for the Dodgers is a trip to the Bronx to face the New York Yankees, a place where they haven't won since 2016.
