After heading to Philadelphia facing elimination in Game 6, the Arizona Diamondbacks astonishingly find themselves one win away from their first National League pennant since 2001.
And on the mound, they’ll have 25-year-old rookie Brandon Pfaadt about to pitch the biggest game of his life. You’d just never guess that from Pfaadt’s quote about how he’ll approach a Game 7 in the NLCS.
He doesn’t seem especially concerned at all.
In a recent article from Fox Sports, Pfaadt — who pitched 5.2 scoreless innings against the Phillies in Game 3 with nine strikeouts — revealed that his pregame plans weren’t going to be all that interesting. He said:
“I’ll talk to people. I’ll eat whatever. I’m chill.”
We won’t know until Tuesday night, but that is either an elite mindset or it could mean disaster for the D-backs pitcher. But at least he wasn’t out there giving the Phillies bulletin-board material. We’ve already seen how that has turned out for opposing teams.
Still, fans loved the quote from Pfaadt. It had true Zack Greinke energy.
This was how Twitter reacted
Brandon Pfaadt's mindset for Game 7 of the NLCS is the same as me going to a party that I don't really want to go to pic.twitter.com/hMjD4tOjRu

either everything’s gonna speed up on him all at once and he doesn’t make it out of the 3rd inning, or he’s just built different and goes 6 scoreless. no in between imo https://t.co/9fBa5e9Cdm
