The New York Yankees kicked off their 2022 season with a 6-5 win at home over the Boston Red Sox in 11 innings.
Gerrit Cole got the start for New York and things didn’t go well for him early on. He walked the first batter of the game, Enrique Hernandez, on four pitches and then gave up a two-run home run to Rafael Devers two pitches later.
Cole gave up three runs in the first inning and was taken out after four innings.
Before the game began he was seen being very upset over the pregame ceremonies going a little bit long. And then after the game admited that he was, indeed, not happy about how the game started four minutes later than it was supposed to.
For real.
Here’s his little tantrum:
Just before Billy Crystal threw out the first pitch, Cole seemed PISSED about the start time getting slightly delayed pic.twitter.com/rDuvkVmWl4

And yes, he really was upset over the slight delay:
Gerrit Cole said that the delayed start (1:12pm instead of 1:08pm) was "an unforeseen challenge" for him.
"The festivities got a little away from the schedule," Cole said.

That’s pretty lame, dude.
Twitter agreed.
