Major League Baseball, as we’ve shown you way too many times this season, has had some really embarrassingly bad calls made by umpires. And we’re not just talking about those made by Ángel Hernández and Laz Díaz, who are two of the worst in the game.
Doug Eddings’s name is high up on that list and if you need more proof as to why, then just look at a call he made during Tuesday night’s Orioles-Angels game. Baltimore left-hander DL Hall threw a pitch that caught the center of the strike zone, only to be called a ball by Eddings.
Check this out:
i guess there was enough going on here to keep doug eddings from calling this pitch a strike (he's only human after all) pic.twitter.com/VAFyk75cGv

That was clearly a strike, which this from the X account Umpire Scorecards report shows:

That is not great. MLB fans crushed him:
I mean this is egregious. Watched the whole game and was one of the worse ump showings of the season, which is saying a lot given some of the stuff we’ve seen. https://t.co/LZKu59M1Kp

Obviously the whole thing is gross, but missing a strike that’s nearly middle-middle? Inexcusable. https://t.co/WA8Tc0xNaM

.@Jim22Palmer was letting the ump have it on last night’s MASN broadcast… and he was absolutely correct (as usual)! Brutal scorecard. #UmpShow #Birdland https://t.co/aOCre7zEXK
