Aaron Judge has finally hit his record-breaking 62nd home run of the regular season, and the lucky fan who caught the ball has already denied a $2million (£1.7m) offer.
It was inevitable that Judge would move clear in the history books after initially drawing level with Roger Maris' record of 61 that was set in 1961. And against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night, he hit the famous home run to become the leading scorer in a single season in American league history.
Whoever was the lucky recipient of the ball would be able to sell it for life changing money, and that's already been proven as a $2m (£1.7m) offer has been tabled. But fan Corey Youmans has said he's not sure what he's going to do yet after catching the ball.
Rangers security identified Youmans as the fan who caught the ball, and as you can expect, he was quickly swarmed with reporters and punters looking to get it off his hands. With a firm grip, Youmans knocked back a bold $2m offer, and is planning his next move.
It's unknown how much could be raised for the ball if placed into an open auction, with multiple offers of over a million pouring in, it could ignite a bidding war. But that's music to Youmans ears, and It's certainly a case of the rich getting richer.
The lucky fan is a Vice-President of Fisher Investments, which manages $197billion (£175bn) worldwide, according to USA Today. And he's also married to Dallas sports reporter Bri Amaranthus - who is already delighted with the news.
Amaranthus celebrated her husband's catch on social media as she quote tweeted the video of Youmans being escorted by security with the ball, with the caption: "THIS IS MY HUSBAND."
She also paid tribute to Judge later on, posting a picture of the ball to her Instagram story, saying: "That's my man. @thejudge44 #62."
Judge was emotional after the game, and also relieved to have finally hit the record breaking home run. Judge spoke to reporters, and said: "It's a big relief, everybody can finally sit down in their seats and watch the ballgame.
"It's been a fun ride so far, getting a chance to do this with the team, we got the guys surrounding me. The constant support from my family who's been with me there through this whole thing.
"It's been a great honour and also Roger Maris Jr. You know, him and his family, supporting and being along for the ride. A lot of thanks and congratulations to them too for their conscious support through this whole process. I know it's a tough situation.
"You know, your dad's legacy and you want to uphold that. But getting a chance to meet their family, they're wonderful people. Getting a chance to have my name next to someone as great as Roger Maris and Babe Ruth and those guys is incredible."
