Veteran actor Mitchell Ryan has died at the age of 88.
The Lethal Weapon and Dark Shadows actor died early on Friday morning from congestive heart failure, his agent confirmed.
Ryan is best known for playing ex-con Burke Devlin on iconic TV show Dark Shadows before he left the popular the series in 1967.
Kathryn Leigh Scott, who played Devlin's love interest Maggie Evans on the daytime soap, has come forward to pay her respects.
Posting a tribute to her late on-screen lover, Scott wrote: "My sweet, beloved friend Mitch died early this morning.
"He was a great gift in my life. I cherish my warm memories of his beautiful soul. I'm heartbroken."
During his decades spanning acting career, Ryan worked alongside the likes of Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.
He played a villainous general-turned-heroin smuggler - in the first Lethal Weapon and gave a notable portrayal of Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner.
Ryan also appeared in a number of TV shows including All My Children, Golden Girls, and Murder, She Wrote.
In the 1990s he had a long-running role as Greg's wealthy father on Dharma & Greg.
After being fired from Dark Shadows because of his alcoholism, Ryan opened up about his battle in 2021 autobiography, Fall of A Sparrow.
He wrote: 'I'm blessed that, 30 years a drunk, I've managed to live a working actor's life to be envied. And I've lived a great deal of real life while I was at it.
"Sober for the next 30 years, I'm told that I've come out of it all a good and useful human being."
Ryan is survived by his wife Barbara Albertine. He also had three children, and five grandchildren.
