Roast potatoes are arguably one of the most important parts of a Christmas dinner.
But while they are a festive favourite, many of us are making them incorrectly, according to a top chef. Jeff Baker, a chef who has been awarded a Michelin star and also cooked for the Queen, told the Daily Star which mistakes to avoid to ensure you have the tastiest roasties on December 25.
One terrible error will mean your spuds don't crisp up enough, and nobody wants that.

Jeff said Christmas cooks should avoid squeezing too many potatoes onto the tray if they want them to come out nice and crispy.
He said: “As most of us are cooking for our whole family at Christmas time, we will be making a lot of food and lots of roast potatoes. If you’re making more than usual, several trays are recommended instead of forcing them all on one tray.
“This is because the potatoes need the space to crisp up in the oil or you run the risk of them becoming soggy as they sit in the oil. So make sure that you grab an extra roasting tray or two so that all your hard work does not go to waste!”
The chef also warned against using too much oil, as while this will make the spuds crispy, they could also cook unevenly. Jeff also suggested checking the potatoes every 10-15 minutes, and giving them a shake to increase the crispiness.
