More than $104 million in federal rural health money is headed to 167 projects across Mississippi, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced in a news release on Sept. 15. Gov. Tate Reeves had announced the awards a day earlier. The grants will pay for technology upgrades, new equipment, expanded specialty and maternal care, and telehealth services.
The largest share, about $47.4 million across 97 grants, will modernize aging technology, strengthen cybersecurity, and improve how systems share data. Another 43 grants totaling nearly $43.3 million target care gaps, including surgical and specialty care, diagnostic imaging, and maternal and behavioral health services. The remaining 27 grants, worth nearly $13.4 million, will expand telehealth and remote patient monitoring.
