Tom Cruise will reportedly delay the filming of Mission: Impossible to attend King Charles’ Coronation on May 6.

The 60-year-old is said to be halting production on the eighth instalment of the spy franchise, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, despite it messing up filming deadlines and being costly, as he “will not miss out on" the historic event.

“Tom has been invited to King Charles’ Coronation and there is no way he would have ever turned it down," a source told The Sun.

“It is a hugely prestigious event and Tom is a real royalist – plus he is now close with Prince William and Kate.

“Tom has told film bosses to shut down the production on Mission: Impossible over the Coronation weekend to make sure he can attend."

They continued: “It shocked some people on the film, as Tom is so dedicated to his craft and would never deviate from his intense production schedules.

“But something as important, and grand, as King Charles’s Coronation is something he would not want to miss out on.

“It is a huge thing for Tom to be invited and he is honoured."

Last March, the Hollywood star treated William and Kate to an advanced screening of Top Gun: Maverick.

The trio also rubbed shoulders at the star-studded premiere in London two months later, and Cruise was pictured extending his hand to the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, as she went up a set of stairs at the premiere.

Cruise also participated in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Windsor and said it was an “honour" to be involved.

There’s set to be a string of famous faces joining the star at the Coronation.

It’s been revealed in recent months that King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla have a string of close and loyal celebrity pals, including Dame Judi Dench, Dame Joan Collins, Joanna Lumley and Jeremy Clarkson.

They have fiercely defended them against criticism in recent times.

Last month, full coronation plans were released and revealed that the celebrations will include a star-studded concert at Windsor Castle that will be broadcast live on BBC.

The show’s lineup will feature “global music icons and contemporary stars,” supported by a world-class orchestra and dancers.

The weekend kicks off with the Coronation service on Saturday, May 6 at Westminster Abbey, where the King and Queen Consort will be crowned together in a religious ceremony conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
