Missing Texas soldier's wife is found dead 10 days after he mysteriously vanishes

The wife of a missing Texas soldier, who had mysteriously vanished, has now been discovered dead.

Cameron Chamberlain, the wife of 23-year-old Craig Chamberlain, was found dead, according to reports from KWTX.

Craig's disappearance had raised concerns and captured public attention since he went missing from his home on Monday, May 15.

On May 25, a civilian team located Craig alive, but tragically, the same day brought the devastating discovery of his wife's lifeless body.

The cause of Cameron's death remains unknown at this time, leaving investigators with a grim puzzle to unravel.

Craig, a soldier stationed at Fort Cavasoz, the Army base formerly known as Fort Hood, had gone missing for ten days, leaving family, friends, and the community worried.

In her public appeals for information about her husband's whereabouts, Cameron appeared on local news channels, shedding light on their relationship and expressing concerns for Craig's safety.

She said that an argument had occurred between them prior to his disappearance and suggested that he might be in grave danger if he were still alive.

Cameron also touched upon the impact of army leadership on Craig's mental health. She stated, "People genuinely have very positive things to say about him. He did tell me that he hated the lifestyle, he hated the leadership of Fort Cavazos.

"He was not happy being a soldier. He was scared to talk about his mental health."

Craig's mother, Virginia Chamberlain confirmed that her son was found alive by a civilian team in Killeen on Thursday, Virginia told The Daily Beast in a text message, "We have found my son alive!!"

Describing the relationship between Craig and Cameron, Virginia characterized their marriage as "rocky" and rushed.

The couple had met and married in 2020, but Virginia expressed doubts about her son running away, indicating that their marriage had been marked by unkindness.

"They absolutely rushed into marriage without thinking about it," Virginia explained.

No additional information was available regarding Cameron’s death or if it was related to her husband’s disappearance, or if it was related to the couple's alleged strained relationship.

As the investigation into the disappearance of Craig Chamberlain continues, authorities are now trying to piece together how Cameron came by her death.
