A prisoner who went missing from over the weekend has been traced thanks to a public appeal.
Police launched an appeal on Saturday after John Paul Lynch, 45, absconded from HMP Castle Huntly in Dundee earlier in the week.
He was reported missing to police around 6.45pm on Thursday, March 3, prompting officers to urge the public to help locate him on social media to trace him as he was believed to have returned to Paisley.

Officers have now confirmed that Lynch has now been returned to prison following a call from the member of the public who spotted him in the town.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: "John Paul Lynch who had absconded from HMP Castle Huntly, Dundee, on Thursday, March 3, 2022, has been traced and returned to prison.
"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
