A $2 million federal Labor election campaign commitment to upgrade Cooks Square Park at East Maitland was made in error, Infrastructure Minister Catherine King has confirmed.

Ms King recently wrote to Maitland City Council to clarify that the government's commitment to the project was in fact $1 million.
