VISAKHAPATNAM: The authorities of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) are serious about the episode of missing married woman Sai Priya in RK beach six days ago as the woman was traced in Bengaluru later.
ICG requested the police to take stringent action against the offenders involved in the incident.
It is recalled that Sai Priya, the wife of a pharma company employee S Srinivasa Rao, was missing from the beach on July 25. Her husband complained that his wife drowned in the waters. But the woman escaped from the beach to Bangalore along with her lover Ravi and returned to city on Friday along with him.
The ICG Deputy Commandant of Operations and Plans for Commander Coast Guard district headquarters No. 6 (AP), DPVA Trinadh, in a letter to the GVMC Commissioner, City Police Commissioner, and District Collector said that three cost-effective ICG ships and a helicopter were used for the search operations on July 26 and also on July 27 after receiving the information from Three Town Police station. The deployment of ICG Assets means ships and aircraft encompass huge financial implications and wastage of valuable human services.
"ICG undertakes to search and rescue operations as and when requested by state administration or local police without confirming the positive authentication. Information received, in this case, was false and the missing woman was found alive at Nellore," he said in the letter.
ICG further advised the police to provide positive confirmation prior to seeking the services of ICG for any search operation and also requested to take stringent action against the offenders involved in the incident.
