Missing hillwalker who disappeared during trek in Trossachs tragically found dead

A body has been discovered in the search for a man who disappeared while walking in a Scottish national park.

American hillwalker Patrick Allan Munroe was reported missing earlier this month in the Trossachs.

Mr Munroe, 33, was seen leaving the Pine Trees Leisure Park campsite at Tyndrum, Stirling, on Thursday, April 6.

It's understood the keen hiker then reached the summits of mountains Ben Oss at around 1.15pm that day before going onto the summit of Ben Lui, reaching it around 3pm, then along the ridge to Ben A’Cleibh at around 4pm, after which there was no trace.

Police in Scotland have now confirmed that the body of a man was discovered in the Tyndrum area about 11:00am on Thursday following an intense search involving mountain rescue teams.

Mr Munroe's family have been informed of the discovery, officers said.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said there were no suspicious circumstances in the death and that a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
