A 10-year-old girl who went missing in Exeter has been found "safe and well", said police.

Layla McLoughlin had been last seen at around 6am this morning on Honiton Road in Exeter.

She is local to Exeter and was described as a white female, under 5 feet tall and of a slim build, as police appealed to the public for help in finding her.

A police helicopter was involved in the search and has been seen circling Ludwell Valley Park and other areas of Exeter.

Layla, 10, was believed to be wearing a dark blue Fat Face hoodie with flowers on the back with grey leggings, when she went missing and has shoulder length brown hair.
