Missing Gateshead man Jamie Grant's desperate mother urges son to come home after disappearing 10 days ago

The mother of a Gateshead man who has been missing for over a week has urged her son to come home, as she grows more and more concerned for his safety each day.

Jamie Grant was last seen at his home on Front Street, Whickham, at around 7.20pm on February 8.

He has since been missing for ten days, with his family concerned for his welfare as Northumbria Police undertakes enquiries to help locate him.

A public appeal was issued earlier this week by the force, asking for anyone who may have seen Jamie to come forward.

On Wednesday, Northumbria Police released a second photo of the 27-year-old, in a bid to encourage anyone with information on his whereabouts to get in touch.

Jamie's mother Andrea has been constantly searching for her son each night since his disappearance, worried that his existing medical conditions leave him vulnerable.

Speaking to Chronicle Live, she said: "We've been out everywhere, we've put posters up.

"Tonight (Friday) we've been as far as Hartlepool. We've been driving around, day and night just searching all that is possible."

She added: "Please come back home, we love you and miss you loads."

Jamie is described as a white male, around 5ft 4ins with long, white hair and a beard. He was last known to be wearing a full green tracksuit and black shoes.

Northumbria Police have also pleaded for Jamie to return home, or a message to acknowledge he is okay in the event that he sees their appeals.

In a statement this week, a spokesperson for Northumbria Police, said: “Jamie, if you see this appeal, we would ask you to make contact with officers or with your family and let them know you are OK.”

Jamie, or anyone with information about his current location, is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of their website or by calling 101 quoting log 36 100222.
