Missing dog is saved after getting lost and swimming out into San Francisco Bay

A dog that had been missing for almost two weeks was saved after it was spotted frantically swimming into San Francisco Bay.

Drone footage shows the lost dog, which was last seen on Fourth of July, doggy-paddling half-a-mile out from shore as seagulls circled above.

East Palo Alto Police Department received reports from a witness who spotted the distressed-looking dog and quickly co-ordinated a rescue effort with Menlo Park Fire Protection District, Redwood City Fire Department and the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA.

After spotting the dog with binoculars, firefighters pinpointed its location with a drone and went out on the Bay in a boat to save the animal from the water. It was later reunited with its owners.
