A dog who was stranded hundreds of feet underground has finally been reunited with her family after a traumatic two months. Abby the 13-year-old senior pooch disappeared from her home in Missouri, US, in early June, and her worried owners feared she had gone forever.
On August 6, a small group of cavers were exploring the passages of Berome Moore cave in Perry county and spotted a poorly pup trapped 500ft below the surface. They immediately alerted the local fire department and members of the Cave Research Foundation, before beginning an intricate rescue mission to get her out.
