Police have confirmed the tragic death of a teenager, whose body was recovered from a pond in a park during the early hours of December 8. The 17-year-old boy, whom police have chosen not to name, was reported missing from his home town of Crewe shortly after 9pm, Stoke Sentinel reports.
Officers launched a search party on Wednesday night, calling in the force helicopter, sniffer dogs and a drone to help track down the missing boy. Unfortunately, the teen's body was discovered in a brook in the popular Queens Park in Crewe in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The teen was rushed to hospital but sadly pronounced dead isoon after his arrival. The boy's death is not being treated as suspicious and his next of kin have been informed of the sad news.
Cheshire Police said in a statement: "At 9.10pm on Wednesday, December 7, police received a report of a missing 17-year-old from an address in Crewe. Officers looking for the teenager were assisted by a drone, dog unit, specialist search officers, police helicopter, Cheshire Fire and Rescue and paramedics.
"At 3.24am on Thursday morning, a young male was found in a brook in Queens Park. Officers pulled him from the water and commenced CPR; however he was sadly pronounced dead at hospital.
"The death is not believed to be suspicious and officers are investigating the circumstances to compile a file for the coroner. Next of kin have been informed."
