CHENNAI: Former India men and women's hockey coach Sjoerd Marijne on Monday issued a public apology to India's seasoned midfielder Manpreet Singh. It could probably end what has turned out to be a bitter spat between players and the Dutchman.
The uproar started last year when Marijne, in a book he authored on the turnaround in Indian women's hockey, had alleged that the then men's team skipper Manpreet had asked a fellow player "to stop playing so well" to allow a friend to get into the team.
