Miriam Margolyes faces backlash over controversial This Morning comments

Miriam Margolyes shocked fans as she 'gave advice' on This Morning.

The actress was on the ITV daytime show to answer caller's questions and give them some live advice alongside Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. But during the segment she managed to upset viewers.

She boldly asked one caller if they were "as fat" as she was, and then went on to tell them to "lose weight" and make sure that they wash.

But the controversy didn't end there as Miriam told another caller not to "mix with other cripples". Viewers were outraged and flooded Twitter with complaints, with some threatening to go to Ofcom and others suggesting that the 81-year-old shouldn't appear on live TV.

One user said: "#MiriamMargoyles on #ThisMorning Disgusting, horrible, uncouth woman. Keep her away from live tv."

Laura said: "Miriam needs to be on a delayed timer and on shows after 9.00pm... #thismorning." Another user said: "I don’t think Mariam will be invited back for another phone in any time soon #ThisMorning."

Adam said: "I’m astounded at what I just heard from @MMargolyes on #ThisMorning … This lady is known for being controversial, but she just told a woman on air to lose weight, don’t go gay & not to mix with other ‘cripples’." Andrew added: "Oh god, pray for Ofcom after that."
