Renowned actress Miriam Margolyes, known for her role in the 'Harry Potter' series, has revealed her struggles with a deteriorating spinal condition that has left her unable to walk. At 83 years old, Margolyes shared in an interview with Closer Magazine that she is now registered as disabled due to spinal stenosis, a condition characterized by the narrowing of the spinal canal.
Spinal stenosis can lead to pressure on the spinal cord and nerves, resulting in symptoms such as pain, tingling, numbness, and muscle weakness, as explained by the Mayo Clinic. Margolyes, who portrayed Professor Pomona Sprout in the Wizarding World movies, also disclosed her battles with osteoporosis and recent heart surgery to replace her aortic valve.
