A Minneapolis police officer, Jamal Mitchell, was tragically killed in an ambush while responding to a call about a double shooting on May 30. Officer Mitchell, who had been with the department for about 18 months, was attempting to assist a man he believed was injured when the man shot him multiple times. The gunman and two others were also killed in the incident.
Officer Mitchell's partner, Tori Myslajek, described him as deeply passionate about serving the community and devoted to his four children. The family expressed their devastation over the loss and gratitude for the outpouring of support from friends, neighbors, and the community.
