UK emergency alert to be sent to mobile phones as part of national test of pandemic preparedness

The nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS), which sends alerts through mobile phones, will again be tested.

It will sound as part of a series of steps ministers are taking in response to recommendation from the Covid inquiry.
