NEW DELHI: The Narendra Modi government on Monday, a day ahead of the Independence Day, observed the 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas' or ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’, in the memory of those who were killed, injured or displaced during the Partition of India in 1947. On the occasion, Union housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri shared how his family was a victim of the horror.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post in Hindi on social media platform X said, “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is an occasion to reverently remember those Indians whose lives were sacrificed in the partition of the country. Along with this, this day also reminds us of the suffering and struggle of those who were forced to bear the brunt of displacement. I salute all such people.”
