Forget whether you prefer your martini shaken or stirred — the real question is whether you want Pringles-flavored vodka in your drink.
Last month, spirits maker Sugarlands Distilling released a new 60-proof vodka inspired by the chip brand’s dill pickle flavor. Pringles Dill Pickle Potato Vodka has sharp vinegar and dill flavors with a salty twist, according to the company’s site.
Sugarlands is selling the clear liquor, which is 30 percent alcohol by volume, for $21.99 per 750 mL bottle, according to its listing on Internet Wines. The brand recommends using the drink for picklebacks, martinis or “any cocktail that needs a little snap.”
Although a pickleback — a shot of liquor chased by a shot of pickle brine — is a popular order at most dive bars, the idea of vodka being inspired by Pringles’ specific flavoring appeared to rub some social media users the wrong way as the new drink sparked divided reactions.
“I like pringles and vodka is okay, but those are two things that shouldn't have a crossover episode imo,” one person wrote on X. Another added, “Pringles vodka?! Dill, vinegar, and potato in a bottle… humanity has officially gone too far.”
“In order to consume this you have to have no taste buds,” another joked.
One person wrote on Instagram: “Hard pass lol. Come on humans wtf.”
However, other pickle lovers seemed intrigued by the collaboration.
“Pickle juice is a good chaser . It takes the alcohol taste away almost immediately,” one person noted in a post on X. Another added, “People who get horrific hangovers from sugary cocktails are going to be so thankful for this.”
One person on Facebook tried the new spirit and shared their reaction, saying: “I hollowed out pickles, poured a shot in, took the shot, ate the pickle! Ha! It was actually pretty good and I look forward to a martini with it where I'll add dill from my garden!”
Another user commented under the post, “Hmm! Dill pickle Pringles are the best Pringles. I’m intrigued.”
The official Dill Pickle Pringles debuted in 2022 before being briefly discontinued as a seasonal snack. After high demand for the chips, the product returned full-time in 2024, along with two spicy flavors from the brand’s collaborations with Hot Ones: Los Calientes Rojo and Los Calientes Verde.
This is not Pringles’s first foray into the alcohol world. The brand previously collaborated with Miller Lite to create beer-flavored potato chips.
