The Minnesota Vikings have a major decision to make when it comes to the quarterback position during the NFL draft at the end of the month. They chose not to re-sign Kirk Cousins and instead restructured his contract.
The debate on how the Vikings should approach the position rages on. ESPN’s Mina Kimes weighed in and made the argument to trade up for Florida QB Anthony Richardson.
“If you’re willing to do that (move on from Kirk Cousins with a restructure), then you should really consider just trading up for Anthony Richardson.”
The idea is something that I explored in my latest mock draft and it makes a lot of sense. The top quarterbacks usually come off the board in the top 10 and rarely do quarterbacks pan out.
With that in mind, thing aren’t exactly that simple. You have to evaluate quarterbacks based on their merit and not their draft position. The tough part is the best quarterbacks end up going at the top of the draft. Sometimes, making that move just makes the most sense.

With Kirk Cousins in the final year of his contract, should the Vikings settle for a QB at No. 23? 🤔
