Milwaukee Police Shoot And Critically Wound Armed Suspect

Police responded to reports of gunfire in Milwaukee.

During the early hours of Monday, Milwaukee police officers were involved in a shooting incident that left a 20-year-old man critically wounded. The events unfolded after the police responded to reports of gunfire in the area late Sunday night.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered an armed suspect who attempted to flee on foot. Despite repeated commands to stop, the suspect continued to run, prompting the officers to give chase.

The 20-year-old man managed to run approximately two blocks before turning and firing at the pursuing officers. In response, the officers returned fire around 11:15 p.m., striking the suspect multiple times.

Following the exchange of gunfire, emergency responders swiftly transported the injured man to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed during the incident, and authorities were able to recover a firearm at the scene.

The Assistant Chief Craig Sarnow of the Milwaukee Police Department provided details of the incident during a news conference held early Monday. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the confrontation.

As the community awaits further updates on the situation, the Milwaukee Police Department continues to emphasize the importance of safety and cooperation in such challenging circumstances.
