The latest update from the National Hurricane Center indicates that Milton is no longer classified as a hurricane. While the storm still maintains sustained winds at hurricane strength of 75 mph, it has transitioned into a post-tropical cyclone after losing its tropical characteristics. Milton has merged with a cold front extending across the western Atlantic.
Despite the change in classification, tropical storm conditions and storm surge are persisting along portions of the Southeast coast as Milton moves further offshore. The storm is currently located approximately 200 miles northeast of Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to continue monitoring updates from local authorities and to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. While Milton may no longer be a hurricane, it is still capable of producing hazardous conditions and impacts.
