Milnrow’s The Gallows grabs £1,000 prize on Come Dine With Me: The Professionals

A Milnrow Village pub stormed to victory in the latest episode of Come Dine With Me: The Professionals on Channel 4. The Gallows ' three-course meal wowed its competitors who even branded their ‘posh surf and turf’ main as ‘perfect’.

The pub's owners, David and Rachael, served up the fillet of beef and garlic monkfish tail, which completed the delicious trio of Lancashire black pudding potato cake for starter and key lime cheesecake for dessert. An impressive evening’s worth of entertainment, complete with a karaoke session at the night’s conclusion, saw the pair achieve an impressive score of 34 out of 40.

Comparably, Ganga and Saju, who looked to showcase their south Indian cuisine at Amma’s Canteen, accumulated a score of 30 while Mike and Jo at The Waterside came last.

The Gallows website states: “David consistently and enthusiastically provides amazing food and provides a menu and weekly specials’ board, using local produce and seasonal ingredients.” He has worked as a professional chef across the world for over 20 years, including in prestigious hotels, restaurants, as a private chef and in catering. A pop-up bistro called Bistro Seventy One is also part of his CV.

Meanwhile, Rachael has lived in Milnrow for almost 30 years and has worked in the hospitality industry for 18 years. The couple took over the Kiln Lane pub in 2020 and used the Channel 4 platform to showcase the best The Gallows has to offer.

The restaurant's usual menu serves up a number of delicious dishes. Its main courses include the Gallow's Beef Burger, which comes with Monterey Jack cheese, bacon, tomato, baby gem, toasted brioche bun, and homemade chips. The pub also serves slow-cooked beef brisket, slow-roasted lamb shank and braised beef and ale suet pudding.
