Millwall winger linked with Nottingham Forest set for bargain transfer

Besiktas are closing in on the signing of Millwall winger Jed Wallace, according to the latest reports coming from Turkey.

According to Fotomac, the Black Eagles are very close to completing a deal for the Championship star who was the subject of bids by Nottingham Forest during the January window.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season meaning he is available on a free transfer and there have been no shortage of suitors given his performances this season. But it now appears that ex-West Brom boss Valerian Ismael has won the race to sign Wallace who has scored six goals and registered 11 assists this season.

Wallace is currently trying to help the Lions clinch a play-off spot in the Championship with the club sitting one place outside the top six. Forest had been eager to land Wallace in the January window and reportedly had three bids rejected for the winger who is out of contract this summer.

Forest reportedly made another attempt to sign him on a dramatic deadline day at the City Ground which saw Richie Laryea, Sam Surridge and Jonathan Panzo all join the club. But Wallace, who was out injured at the time, told BBC Radio London that his sole interest was getting back and playing football again.

"(I was) never that close (to leaving),” he said. "My overriding feeling in January was I wanted to get back playing football and I know when I'm playing at The Den I'm enjoying myself. I think my performances have shown that.

"Whether I've got 10 years or one day left on my contract I'll give my all for the club because the club has done a lot for me in the last five years."
