Certain Brits looking to travel to the other side of the world and explore a new country can now do so thanks to a newly expanded visa scheme.
To coincide with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's visit to the UK today, it's been announced that the current Youth Mobility Scheme and Working Holiday scheme will be expanded.
At the moment those aged up to 30 can live and work in New Zealand for 23 months under the visa.
From 2024, everyone aged up to their 36th birthday can apply to stay and find employment in the country for three years.
Those eligible can work at any skill level.
The scheme also applies the other way round for Kiwis looking for a new life in the UK.
The annual quota for Kiwis going to the UK is 13,000 people per year, with 15,000 UK nationals able to apply for one of the visas to New Zealand.
Ms Ardern said: “Kiwis have long advocated for improvements to working holiday visas. We are so pleased to have reached this agreement today.
"I was one of many Kiwis to enjoy living and working in the UK, and we look forward to offering Brits the same wonderful experience in New Zealand.”
While recent figures are hard to come by, there are likely more than 60,000 New Zealanders living in the UK at the moment - a significant chunk of the country's five million person population.
UK Home Secretary Priti Patel said: “Travelling, living and working overseas can be a wonderfully enriching experience.
"The UK loves to welcome Kiwis on their travels here while thousands of Brits have made the similarly life-changing journey to the southern hemisphere.
“Today’s improvements to our visa schemes will give even more young Brits and New Zealanders the opportunity to develop their skills, make life-long connections and contribute to their host country.”
New Zealand remains a popular destination for Brits abroad, due to the prevalence of English and the stunning countryside.
