Almost all British households try to recycle as much as they can – but more than half (55%) are unaware that soft plastics, like carrier bags, are not collected in kerbside collections.
Toilet roll wrappers (36%), supermarket bags (30%), and bread bags (21%) are among the soft plastics Brits regularly incorrectly assume they can discard in council recycling boxes.
And one in five (19%), of the 2,000 adults polled, believe salad packaging can be recycled from home, while 11% think the same of drinks shrink wrap.
