A millionaire banker who was detained by police in the hunt for the 'Putney Pusher' has been re-arrested after detectives allegedly found class A drugs at his £1.4 million mansion.
The suspect, 44, was arrested on Monday at his home in west London after a jogger shoved a pedestrian into the path of a double-decker bus in London in 2017.
He was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm in relation to the notorious unsolved case.
But then after suspected drugs were found his home and he was rearrested for possession of Class A and Class B drugs.
He has now been bailed in relation to all charges.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “On Monday, 15 June, a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.
“The arrest relates to an incident on 5 May 2017, where a woman was pushed into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge in Putney.
“Once in police custody, he was also arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and Class B drugs.
“He has since been bailed pending further investigation in relation to all offences. Enquiries continue.”
The shocking incident on Putney Bridge nine years ago was captured on CCTV.
A 33-year-old woman was launched into a busy lane on the bridge at around 7.40am on May 5, 2017, by a man - believed to be a stranger to her - as he ran past.
The woman avoided serious injury thanks to the quick reflexes of the hero bus driver who managed to avoid her.
The latest development in the police investigation into the is in its early stages but it it is understood to be a “significant line of inquiry”.
The incident in 2017 sparked huge interest and became one of Britain's most compelling unsolved cases.
But no suspect was ever charge in the case.
The investigation was closed in 2018 before new information came to light that led to the arrest.
The local MP has praised the Met for not giving up on the case.
