The Millennium Bridge was lit up blue and yellow on Friday night in a mark of international solidarity with Ukraine following the alarming events that have happened their in the last few days.
Gateshead Council, who organise symbolic gestures like this, said: "Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the tragic events in Ukraine.
"This evening, the Millennium Bridge will be lit blue and yellow to express solidarity.

"The developments in Ukraine however anticipated are horrific, we must stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
"Gateshead Council condemns the actions of Russia, we want to reassure the Ukrainian nationals who reside in the borough, those who have loved ones, families, and connections to Ukraine that they have our support."
Other landmarks across the world including Downing Street, Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and the Colosseum in Rome have also been lit up blue and yellow to support for Ukraine.
On Saturday, demonstrators gathered at Grey's Monument in support of Ukraine and in condemnation of Russia's 'unprovoked' attack.
The Home Secretary, Priti Patel, cancelled the visas of the Belarussian Men's basketball team who were due to fly in to the UK on Saturday to compete in the GB vs Belarus World Cup Qualifier in Newcastle.
