Mill United celebrate cup success after both u18s side collide in showpiece game

Mill United have won the Scottish Central Regional League Cup - after a victory over the club's Colts team.

Both of the Hamilton-based outfit's u18s teams reached the showpiece match at Carluke Rovers' John Cummings Stadium after fantastic campaigns.

It was the A League side though who managed to prevail with a 3-1 win against a Colts side who have already won the C League and have a League Cup final against Westerton on June 4th.

The title winners hit first through Kyle Scully after receiving the ball from a Colts free kick.

Soon their United counterparts equalised when Calum Paterson scored a free kick from outside the box. Bradley Campbell made it 2-1 before Kyle McGill scored what was arguably goal of the day.

He pulled off an audacious lob which turned out to be winner, sealing cup glory.

A club spokesperson said: "All in all it was a great game of football for the large travelling support from Hamilton to watch."

Mill United have a rich history of developing young talent, with Rangers icon Barry and Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson coming through their ranks, while Celtic's Jude Bonnar and ex-Scotland international Paul Hartley also former players.
