Shoppers are enraged that a beloved Milky Way treat will no longer be on supermarket shelves.
Chocolate lovers will be sad to hear that the iconic Milky Way crispy rolls have been discontinued in the UK, Manchester Evening News reports.
The move has caused outrage among fans of the snack and have fuelled them to launch a petition calling for their return, which has gained more than 1,500 signatures.
Shoppers condemned the recall, calling it "disappointing".
Milky Way Crispy Rolls are produced by Mars UK also known as Mars Wrigley UK. The bars are made of chocolate with a light crisp biscuit. The biscuit centre is coated in a fluffy whipped topping, enclosed in rich milk chocolate.
The petition reads: "Many people might have noticed that this product hasn’t been sold in shops or online shops because it has been discontinued, which is very disappointing. This product is a very popular product which many people love and it is a nice low calorie snack.
"This product has been around for quite some time and it’s disappointing that after all that time Mars Chocolate has discontinued it from there product range. I for one would choose the Milky Way Crispy Rolls over other Mars Chocolate products. For example I would rather have a Milky Way Crispy Roll rather than a Milky Way and I’m sure many other people think the same."
Only a select few stores in the UK were selling the crispy rolls, which included B&M, the Co-op and Poundland. Supermarkets from the likes of Waitrose , Morrisons, Tesco and Asda have not sold the product for quite some time.
The snacks are also currently unavailable to buy on Amazon too. We found one seller on eBay selling some for 50p here.
Mars have not publicly commented on the discontinuation but many have noticed that the product has disappeared from shops altogether.
One chocolate lover is calling on Mars not to make the same mistake and said on their petition signature: "I love Crispy Rolls. Mars already ruined my childhood by discontinuing Mars Planets, I implore them not to do it again with Crispy Rolls."
Another said: "I'm fuming about this, they are so moreish and tasty, they should stay!"
The change.org petition has 1,583 signatures so far, you can sign it and read more about it here.
